NYSSA R. HANGER, MA, LMT, has been a licensed massage therapist since 2005 and has been specializing in Structural Energetic Therapy® since 2006.  In 2009 she completed the Advanced Training in Emotional Energy Release Technique from the Institute of Structural Energetic Therapy. She is a level 1 Reiki practitioner. In addition to massage, she has a certificate from the Atlantic Institute of Aromatherapy and has been a volunteer in the United Aromatherapy Effort since 2001.  Recently, she has begun doula (childbirth labor companion) certification through DONA, and is currently accepting new doula clients. She was certified in MotherMassage® this year and offers bodywork for pregnant, laboring, and postpartum women.

Nyssa’s second passion to bodywork and health is creative writing.  She has been writing and performing poetry locally since 1998.  She was blessed to study with Gianna Russo, one of Tampa’s most dedicated and talented poets,  between 2000 and 2003.  Since 2007, Nyssa has participated in the Arts Council’s Poetry Jam Program, facilitating poetry workshops for high school students.  In June 2008, she founded Door Stop Productions, her love project created to connect community artists and explore the power of live performance, which hosts the “Open Mind Open Heart Open Mic” every Thursday night at Cafe Hey. For the past year, Nyssa has designed original writing workshops focused on self-exploration and topics like connection and creativity.  Currently, she is working on her calendar for 2012.
